Memolio Personalised Book for Grandparents Review

A treasured keepsake

Memolio Personalised Book

When it comes to books, there is plenty of choice with different themes and genres. But when looking to give a book as a gift, what could be better than a personalised book? A personalised book turns a family member into the hero on the pages and readers can see their name, image and real events immortalised on the pages. Memolio have created a personalised book for grandparents that tells their life story.

Memolio is a 24-page AI generated book for grandparents that tells their life story with beautiful illustrations (taken from your own photos that you supply) and integrated into the story are their real life events from childhood to adulthood, funny stories and memorable events. A treasured keepsake for families.

The Memolio book is designed as a treasured keepsake that honours the relationship between grandparents and their grandchildren through a blend of storytelling and visual memory‑keeping. Unlike traditional photo books that simply compile images, Memolio elevates the experience with thoughtful illustration and gentle narrative touches that are created with AI using information and photos you input to create a storybook. It is so much more than just inserting names into a story, so much more personal and an excellent gift.

It is very easy to create your own book, taking about 30 minutes (longer if you need to wait from answers from other family members or friends) and if you have photos ready to upload. Create an account and start filling in the web form where you, or your grandparent, will be asked questions such as what language you want the book in (English or German), names, where they were born, favourite memory, favourite funny story, style of dress etc. While some people may not like too much form-filling, it isn’t overly long or complicated and if you don’t know some answers that are required to continue filling in the form, there is an option to ask other people – it generates a question and link that you can send to someone else to get them to answer. And if typing out all those answers isn’t your thing, just hit the speak your answers button and talk – the website will turn your voice into text (just make sure that the converted text is correct after).

As you go through the form you will also be asked to provide photos. While you can upload a few photos, including those of grandchildren, all that is required is a recent photo of the grandparent(s) the book is about – if you are uncomfortable with uploading photos of children you can describe them and the AI will create them. All photos and data provided is GDPR-compliant and the information is deleted 90 days after the book has been delivered. Memolio never use your photos or stories to train AI models, so your data is your data.

Once the form is completed and photos uploaded, characters are created from your photos and descriptions, where you have the ability review and change the AI creations (up to 50 free regenerations). The book will not be completed until you approve all the images.

Once you have approved everything, the book starts to be created – taking up to two hours. You will be emailed once it is complete. Then you can review and go back and make changes required or send to print. The printing of the book costs £40 plus delivery (currently £24 plus delivery until 30 September 2026) and takes approximately 7 working days to arrive. What you receive is a 24-page, full-colour hardcover book that is unique to you and your family – it is your grandparents story and will not be the same as any other one.

Overall, as personalised books go, I think the Memolio one is excellent. A lot of personalised books and stories generally just insert a name, photo or image and some personal details into a pre-written story. Memolio creates a unique story text with accompanying images to create a much more personal keepsake, creating a mini biography of your grandparent(s).

While the text is created by AI, which some people are uncomfortable with, a fictional story is created using personal information that tells a life story, seamlessly integrated into the text. Personally, I thought it was excellent. As a life story I thought the text flowed well and I loved the illustrations on each page, all created from your own descriptions and photos that show what is being told on each page.

Apart from the story, I also like that that you can add up to four photos and create a memories page with descriptions.

Delivery is fast and when delivered the book looks so much better than on the screen, it’s A4 size makes it an excellent life story gift. The images are colourful and the text is printed in a good size and very clear to read. The quality of the book is excellent.

If you are looking for a book to give as a gift or even keep for yourself as a family keepsake, I can recommend the Memolio life story illustrated book. It is unique for each person (standard templates are not used so you can have a different story for each set of grandparents) and it is beautifully created. I love that you can regenerate images until they match what you have in mind and that the more information you can provide, the richer the story is. The process is easy, although time consuming – but as it would be something special, it’s not something you would want to rush through anyway and I would recommend taking your time to get it exactly how you want.

A wonderful family keepsake.
