When it comes to giving a book as a gift, what could be more perfect that a personalised book? I don’t mean one that just has a personalisation or dedication inside the front cover, I mean one that features the recipient’s name and even an image that represents them, and not just on one page – all throughout the book! Over the past few years, personalised books have become more and more popular – they are a thoughtful and memorable gift as they offer a unique way to celebrate individuality and create lasting keepsakes. And who wouldn’t enjoy seeing their name and themselves as a character in a book? Well you can with personalised books from Two Worlds. For this review I chose All the Hats, written by Laura Caputo-Wickham and illustrated by Luminita Dumitrache.
Two Worlds offer a selection of personalised books suitable for adults, children and even one featuring your pets. The books can be printed in different languages: English (UK & US), French and German (although not all books are available in all the languages) and are personalised with the recipient’s name(s), gender (girl or boy) and avatar likeness. You can also add a dedication in your own words (up to 300 characters) on the inside cover and in the case of the book I ordered, names of 5 friends or family on presents that feature under the Christmas tree. Once customised and ordered the books take approx. 6 to 10 days for delivery (depending on which delivery option you use).
Now for the book I choose – All the Hats. All the Hats is a personalised book suitable for children aged up to 8 years old and is an imaginative story is about all the different “hats” that we wear. It introduces children to the idea that every “hat” we wear in life teaches us something different. The book cleverly uses different hats as metaphors for the roles, responsibilities and adventures we all have during our lifetimes. Using hats as metaphors, it gently encourages young readers to explore identity and self-expression in a playful way (with their own name and avatar that looks like them). Featuring ten different hats to try on; from artist to pirate and astronaut to firefighter, it invites children to imagine themselves in diverse scenarios, with each scene highlighting a new skill or lesson. This makes All the Hats not only entertaining but also very educational, gently reinforcing the idea that trying new things helps us to grow.

Overall, the All the Hats personalised book from Two Worlds would make an absolutely wonderful gift for any young reader – an engaging and well-written story (in rhyme) where the reader can actually see themselves in the story. For many young readers, this can be a powerful confidence boost and is an excellent way to get them engaged in reading and books.
The real beauty in this book is obviously in the customisation. The child’s name, gender and even a dedication are easily added with prompts when you click “Get Started”, making the story feel tailor-made. But the real eye-catching moment is that the main character can be customised and easily adjusted as an avatar to represent the child, adding layers of fun, excitement and a connection to the story. It really makes this book their own story.
And while you may have seen other personalised books available, All the Hats is a bit different from others in that the story also focuses on empowerment. Rather than simply inserting a child’s name and avatar name into a generic story, it builds a narrative around growth, imagination and self-esteem. And it is excellent for sparking discussions about different roles these hats bring with them and what hat children would like to wear when older.
The book is available in softcover (£22.99) and hardcover (£26.99) formats, although if giving as a gift to be cherished I would personally opt for the hardback option for its durability. Now while you might think the price is expensive for a 32-page book, it is beautifully printed with vibrant colours, the combination of lively illustrations and lyrical storytelling creates a book that feels both professional and heartfelt, and every page is customised, including the front cover, with the child’s name and avatar.
Delivery is an extra cost: with standard tracked delivery £3.49, express tracked £4.49 and premium tracked £5.99 (if ordering two or more books it is free standard delivery and £1 for express). Delivery is estimated at 6-10 days depending on the option you choose – I chose express tracked which gave me at estimated delivery time of 8 days from date of order but I actually received it 5 days later.
With my reviewer’s hat on, I enjoyed the story, it’s delightful, and I think that this would make a unique and thoughtful gift for Christmas, birthdays or any other special occasion. It not only entertains with its playful rhyming story and fun colourful illustrations, but it also educates children by introducing them to different roles and placing them front and centre of the story. As a gift, it isn’t cheap but it offers something far more meaningful than a toy, gadget or gift voucher with its personalisation and the quality speaks for itself (the pages are nice and thick and the printing is vivid and bright). This is a gift that children will cherish for years to come, long after those expensive toys and gadgets have fallen by the wayside.
